Pita Pita!

I go through carb phases.

There was a time I was obssessed with shredded wheats. (I still do, but not as intense).

Then my continuing afternoon cravings for museli (san dried fruits).

Now? Whole wheat pitas! I just got some freshly baked one from a local bakeries and man. 6 for only $0.75! It was soft, pillowy, chewy and just pure bliss. I even snacked on one while I was in a restaurant!

What do you like to put inside or on top of your pitas? My all time favorites are yogurt (yea, I'm wierd), hummus (of course), tomato and cheese (like a pita pizza) or toasted with some PB.

My Favorite GREEN Vegetable

When it comes to vegetables, I love them all across the rainbow. Whether it's the bright yellow zucchini, the royal purple eggplant, the snow white jicama, or the "aren't u" orange pepper (yes, I'm cheesy like that, hee), I just love them all. But for one of my top TOP three favorite vegetables, that would have to be the Chinese broccoli, also called 'kai lan'.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kai-lan

I love anything with a crunch and a bite to it (like wheatberries rather than mealy instant oatmeal or just blanched broccoli and not mushy spinach). If you see the sturdy stalks of the kai lan, you would know what I mean. I would 'steal' all the stalks and leave my guests (aka my mom) with the green leaves. She always complains, but I couldn't help myself.

I love it when my mom stirfry it with some olive oil and fresh garlic. Simple and easy. That's the best.

Mastered a Vegan Muffin!

I've done it! I've got down a vegan recipe for my banana muffin! It's really healthful because there are only 'basic' ingredients - whole wheat flour, oats, mashed bananas, applesauce, shaved coconut, and pumpkin seeds for texture. It's so good especially when just baked and crumbled over some Greek yogurt!

Jamba Juice Oatmeal Special!

In times of a recession, many businesses (especially food-related) are offering great discounts. I know a lot of bloggers are oatmeal fans, so when you're on the run and there's a Jamba Juice nearby, go grab an oatmeal...for just $1! Yep! Print this coupon out. But like the coupon said, it's only offered at stores that serve oatmeal. Good luck and enjoy!
